I Am Going To Lose My Shit If This Brexit Nonsense Impacts Game Of Thrones

CNBC- The biggest threat to the Iron Throne could be Brexit. HBO’s hit fantasy epic “Game of Thrones” could face costly obstacles while filming its final two seasons if the U.K. leaves the European Union, according to Foreign Policy, a publication focused on covering global affairs. “Game of Thrones” is funded, in part, by the European Regional Development Fund, a group that seeks to increase economic growth in the European Union. If the U.K. departs the European Union, HBO could lose one of its primary filming locations — Northern Ireland. Filming could become too costly for the company and would require HBO to either relocate or find alternative funding. “It might be up in the air for U.S. studios who want to film in the U.K.,” Peter Chase, a senior fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States’ Brussels office, told Foreign Policy. “There are EU programs to help fund all of this. If the U.K. is no longer part of the EU, that has the potential to go away.”

Listen, I will be the first to admit I don’t know much about this whole Brexit situation. For me, it has just been a reason to make fun of England on Twitter and see the Crying Jordan used in new and different ways. But usually when something massive is happening in the financial sector, I try to figure out how it’s going to impact me. And often I don’t feel the immediate repercussions because my portfolio is as non-existent now as it was when I was 5. The Dow plummeting and 401k’s getting butchered means nothing to me. But this Thrones news is something that hits real close to home. If HBO films outside of their old spots, I’m pretty sure they can trick my dumbass into not noticing. But if they have to start scraping for money because of financial changes, I am going to be pissed. Because you know what’s going to be the first things to go? Extra scenes with the dragons and direwolves. I mean the director of the Bastard Bowl already admitted that the only reason Ghost wasn’t tearing Bolton soldiers limb from limb was because of that straight cash homey. Those dragons are full grown and about to head West with bad intentions like people that only hunt while playing Oregon Trail. Now is not the time for the dragons to disappear like Judy from Family Matters.

And yes, I admit this all sounds a bit Y2K-ish and clickbaity. But again, I don’t know the difference when it comes to economic stuff. My eyes glaze over every single time I start reading about what the Brexit actually means. However, if it means I have less Ghost, Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion in my life (had to look up those last two), I am going to be PISSED. And if it costs me a chance to see Arya reunited with Nymeria, I will be #done with the Brits.
